It's great to be back in Hyderabad for the week, especially since Will and Dad are here to visit! We've spent the last couple days exploring the city, and have gotten to show Will and Elliot some of the sights in the city. Yesterday morning was spent trying to figure out visa details because we've decided to go to Nepal for a week while we're in northern India-- the India tourist visas have a policy where if you leave the country you can't return within 2 months, but apparently, as we found out, this can be avoided if you convince the Indian embassy in Kathmandu that they should let you return (so hopefully we won't get stuck!) Although we stopped by Charminar in our first week in Hyderabad, we went back yesterday afternoon with Dad and Will so we could climb up to the top. It is a structure of four pillars (char means 4, minar means pillar) and was built in Hyderabad in 1591 AD. It's a beautiful structure that combines both Hindu and Muslim architectural design, and is one of the most recognizable symbols of the city.

After Charminar we headed over to Tank Bund, the man made lake in between the two cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. In the center of the lake on a small platform is a giant monolithic Buddha, so we jumped on the ferry to go see the statue.
Today, we headed to Golkonda Fort, which is about 10 km outside of the city center, and had a great day exploring the old ruins. We had a delicious lunch in Hi-tec City, and headed home for the day.

It's been so great to see Will and Dad and touring the city all together-- a couple more days in Hyderabad with the family, and then we head north!
