Barcelona to Valencia

We've had a really lovely time for the past few days in Spain.  After our time in Barcelona we drove the 4 hours or so to Valencia, stopping in the tiny coastal town of Peñíscola for lunch.  We tried a couple new things including "chipirones" which are tiny squid, a specialty in Spain.

We arrived in Valencia in the evening and spent the rest of our day wandering around the old town (after an adventurous ride through the very narrow streets) and had a great selection of tapas and wine to end the night.

The next morning we made the trip into the city (we were staying about 10 minutes outside of the city-- we realized the lack of free hotel rooms and inflated prices was due to the Formula 1 Grand Prix races that were going on for the whole weekend) and began with the old market and the city bull fighting arena and museum.

We then headed to an exhibit at a large art school in Valencia, and then a couple lazy hours around the botanical gardens.

We finished the day with some delicious tapas and paella-- the seafood in Valencia was fresh and amazing.

So good.
Our last day in Valencia was a busy morning spent walking around some of the really phenomenal architecture (which inside were the arts and sciences museums, observatory, and what we believe was the Valencian equivalent to SeaWorld).

The rest of our day was a delicious seafood lunch and an incredibly lazy late afternoon spent on the beach... Not bad.  More on Spain to come.
