Our last long day on the bike, drove down the coast from Dong Hoi to Hue today. The last leg of our trip from Hue to Da Nang will actually be the shortest, only 2 hours or so. We got into Hue at about 2 or so, did the usual hotel search, and found a nice little backpackers hotel called "Why Not?". I'm sure we weren't the only travelers asking ourselves that question when we got a room. There are so many more hotels and tourist offices in Hue than we expected. After the tiny, quiet, completely Vietnamese towns that we've been in for the last couple days, it was a bit of a shock to come to Hue expecting the same and getting rows and rows of hotels filled with foreigners and English speaking staff. There does seem to be a lot to explore in Hue, so we've decided to stay tonight as well, and we'll ride into Da Nang tomorrow to return the bike. I'll be sad to give the bike back-- as a passenger, it's been the best way I could imagine seeing half of Vietnam, and I've loved the freedom and flexibility it's given us on getting to know small towns and people. (It's also made me really want to learn to ride a motorcycle when we get back!) We ended the day with dinner at an Indian restaurant, which was fresh and delicious. Not many pictures from the day, but here are a few:
